this month although apparently she should have been visible here tonight.

  Nope No sign of her here, too cloudy (maybe your skies are a bit clearer) and she is only about 7% illuminated I think so a very thin sliver, quite late now so probably slipped below the horizon.

She paid a visit to France sorry I didn't take a picture - a lovely crescent 'boat' and the outline of the rest could be seen as a darker shape. Does that make sense?
