On Saturday we left home at 4am so after all that culture in the sagrad familie, we got the metro out to the Park Guelle, which is as lovely as ever and a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon.
A good thing about Barcelona is that it is littered with Tapas bars, many of which offer some very good deals 10 euros for a drinkie and 3 dishes of tapas sooooooooo we er wandered around the Ramblas and alleyways for a bit sampling the various delicaciesand various wines on offer. ahem.
Around midnight we ended up at the harbour.
and spent some time in a delightful waterfront bar just over this bridge.
Before heading back to Plaza Reale where our hotel was located and it was pleasant outside so it seemed to me to be an excellent idea to stop for a few little drinkies before bed. ![]()
By that point it was around 2am and we had been awake for nearly 24 hours,so the fact that our hotel room(31 degrees no aircon and no proper window) room resembled a sauna somewhat escaped our notice.
Next morning we woke around 8am and as breakfast looked rather grim we went round the corner to the Ramblas and had some coffee with churros and choc for me, Omelette for Nick and bacon and eggs for Cook.
Despite the hangover from hell humidity we ventured over to the Picaso museum which was airconditioned and an intersting building in itself before heading for the Gothic quarter, pausing on the way to partake of some beer for the guys and some fresh carrot, apple and ginger juice for me.![]()
There is a garden with geese, a pond and a turtle inside the cathedral in a courtyardy sort of thing.
it is a beautiful place.
Outside there was a lady singing some opera rather well, Pucini I think (busking maybe or advertising that she was a professor of music offering tuition or both) which was quite atmospheric.
That's all folks.

That brought back lovely memories. When I went there a couple of years ago I stayed in an apartment just round the corner from the Cathedral.
