Yeah I don't believe it though.
Someone told me they pair for life so I think if you see a solitary one it is a sign of unhappiness. Lot's of people deem them unlucky but not sure why.
They are very handsome I think.
Lots of good pickings around the pub so these guys are very fat and sleek.

If we see one, we always say Good morning, Mr. Magpie...was told long ago, if you greet the single one, anything bad will pass you by...
Not superstitious of course...Don't actually know the difference between the male and the female...they both seem to look the same...GBHs...XXX -

Not sure either could just have been friends rather than a pair but the superstitious child in me was glad to see two of them.
Later on there was a third magpie, but I have no idea of the significance of that other than that the pub cat couldn't cope with all the scraps from Sunday lunch.

I know geese and ducks mate for life. But I do know that sometimes after losing their mate they are adopted by another couple So you will see three of them together alot. Maybe that is with the magpies

Me too. Well I love the sound of the songbirds, but the sounds magpies make are very grating.
